The Palatine Families of Ireland documents the genealogies of all those courageous families who left their German homes and were settled by the British in Ireland. The product of forty years of research in Ireland, England, Germany, the United States and Canada, this volume chronicles the lives of all these emigrants and their descendants, often to the third generation. The German origins of many families are discussed, taking some lines back into the 1600s. Many of the families, after living in Ireland for fifty years, kept moving on to the New World and arrived in colonial New York in the 1760s. Many of this group then migrated to Canada due to the American revolution, and their descendants stayed loyal to the Crown - many becoming United Empire Loyalists such as the Dulmage, Embury, Heck, Ruckle, Detlor, and Lawrence families.
